The power of sustainable print

The written word is surely the most versatile and effective means of communication ever devised. Today, print continues to offer a uniquely powerful and controllable vehicle in which to project your message.

Of course, the main constituent of paper is trees, a naturally regenerating and carbon-neutral source. There are concerns about how we manage our consumption of paper but, managed responsibly, communicating in print need not cost the earth.

“There aren’t many industries around that can aspire to becoming genuinely sustainable. The paper industry, however, is one of them; it is inherently sustainable.”
Jonathan Porritt Chairman UK Sustainability Development Commission and Founder Forum for the Future

To help printers and designers and users of paper explain and understand the sustainability of paper and print we have published The power of sustainable print guide on this subject, go to the Downloads section to view it online.

Further to this resource, the Graphic Communications supply chain including Forestry, Pulp, Paper, Inks and Chemicals, Pre Press, Press, Publishing and Printing has launched Two Sides. The common goal is to promote the responsible production and use of print and paper by dispelling common environmental misconceptions and providing users with accurate information on why Print and Paper remains the most attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium.
