GENERAL INFORMATION
regency Gloss and Satin is stocked in a wide range of substances in both paper and board weights.
The regency range is exclusive to Howard Smith Papers. regency is a high quality, triple coated product, with the added benefit of excellent bulk and opacity.
The range is highly innovative, with the Gloss and Satin finishes each having their own individual qualities developed from the use of special coating formulations. Even the most delicate half tone areas are faithfully reproduced by the soft white shade of the regency range.

ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT
The fibre is sourced from sustainable forests in Canada, Sweden and France and all pulps are ECF. All mill broke is recycled and constitutes a small percentage of the total fibre content. Waste water is filtered with a combination of chemical, physical and biological systems. The purified water which is then discharged into Lake Garda is far cleaner than the authorities require. The mill’s filtration plants are already in line with future European legislative requirements. The product is recyclable, biodegradable and acid-free and the mill is regulated to ensure it has no effect on the tourism in the area. The Italian Green Party awarded the mill their Silver Rose award for their commitment to the environment in 1991.
The mill filters waste water with a combination of chemical, physical and biological systems. The biological plant is particularly impressive, being a vertical system used for the first time by a paper mill in Italy. The rectangular structure is 18m high and uses colonies of bacteria living in grains of expanded clay. These bacteria effectively feed off contaminated particles in waste water, eliminating impurities. Water is the only moving substance in the filtration plant. It is moved upwards within the plant by pressure, and at the same time air is blown into the water in a completely colourless, aerobic process.
The biological filtration system is not only new because of its vertical design which saves 80 % of the surface required by a traditional biological plant, but above all because of the purity of the water at the output is so clean it can be pumped directly into Lake Garda.
The degree of impurities in the water is far below the maximum quantities specified by the strict norms of the Trentino local authority (even tougher than national norms). Our filtration plants are already in line with future European legislative requirements.
The mill has fully achieved the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
PRINTING TIPS
Heavy ink coverage or large areas of varnish on a crease or spine can lead to cracking. Avoid it where possible.
In 170g/m2 and above always score the sheet prior to any subsequent folding operation. This will reduce cracking. Always fold with i.e. parallel to the grain.
Always try to design the job so that these areas sit back-to-back.
On high gloss products always ensure that the pre-printed stack is fully aired.
Stack heights should also be reduced. These measures will reduce feeding problems such as cling.
Always cover the paper stack between passes or subsequent finishing or converting operations.
Always maintain strict temperature and humidity controls in the pressroom.
