The first lectures of the series was led by artist Paul Davis and accompanied with a limited edition journal, which was printed on the think⁴ uncoated range of recycled and FSC certified papers. Davis' illustrative work, that presents the truths that people rarely speak of, was showcased back in the summer of 2005 at three different lecture venues in London, Edinburgh and Bristol. His audiences were presented with his observational and often satirical style of documentary drawing, demonstrating his views on life and experiences.

Signed journals were avaialble at the Lectures, which were attended by over 300 designers, and thereafter, a further 3,000 have been circulated to customers of Howard Smith Paper Group.
